I bought these rectangles thinking they would be an applique of a rectangle with faux smocking on top so it could be used to simulate a smocking insert on a colored shirt. For what it was, faux background smocking and satin stitch border, it stitched out fine. I just have to add the steps to the beginning to lay down an appliqued rectangle.
